Beolink 7000 Service Manual
Beolink 7000 keeps switching on and off. The problem is actually literally described as a fault in section 2.7 of the trouble shooting chart in the service manual. Bang-Olufsen-Beolab_Penta_3-Service-Manual Bang-Olufsen-Beolink_1000_Mk4-Service-Manual.
Hello all, I've just received a scratched and dented Beolink 7000 that I bought on eBay as not working and without battery pack (it sadly arrived in really shoddy packing and the plastic cover on the table top charger had fractured and snapped the screw mounts off!). I also bought a NiCd replacement unit from BeoVIenna as from reading posts it seemed a good place to start was to pop a battery in it!
(I've also got one of the lithium memory batteries on its way) I've soldered the NiCd battery up and when I did so I saw the front panel/screen light up for a fraction of a second but then go dark. Godus For Pc on this page. If I tap on the mirror plate it does the same thing.
I've placed the remote in the charger but nothing happens (apart from if I tap the mirror plate again). The battery was reading 5.5V before I soldered it in and the charger is reading 0.08V across the left and middle contacts. It's an ambitious (risky ) project as I'm not very experienced with electronics but if anyone can offer any help or advice it would be most welcome! Update: OK - so replaced the 100mA 250V fuse and we have some success! Bolingo Na Ngai here. I'm measuring ~7.5V across pin 1 and 2 and ~9.6V between pins 2 and 3. The remote powered on as soon as I put it on the charger and seems to have charged up successfully over night.
Everything seems to light up as it should, no dead pixels on the matrix display although perhaps the backlight looks like it could do with replacing. I'm just letting it sit now off charge to see how long it lasts! However, as with all problems as soon as one is overcome more spring up in its place! I'm now getting 'NO CONTACT' in the display (although the remote seems to operate the basic functions of the Beomaster 7000). As the receiver and remote have come from different places I've removed the component and re-added it so they can see each other but still no joy (but can't rule out the receiver itself).
I'm assuming that given it's age it's the usual two-way IR capacitors that are suspect? Secondly the panel doesn't move automatically when it's laid flat and I touch the mirror plate. If I go into the panel menu I can see it's set to 'AUTO' and if I press 'MOVE' it sits up/down as expected but just not automatically? I haven't replaced the memory battery yet (on my to-do list) but read in a thread that this can be a cause?
If anyone can offer any advice it would be appreciated! Also the previous owner lost the battery cover screw so need to find one somewhere - if anyone can help me send me a PM!
